I did a fair amount of teaching English in Thailand recently to children with no English at all. The older ones were ok to teach in a standard way but the younger ones I found a couple of things work.

First, splitting the class into teams - mine split into 3 teams of about 8 each.

Then telling the class that they will get points for getting things right, and they will lose points for messing around, or not paying attention etc (they didn't lose points for getting things wrong, that's not good practice).

They then kept themselves in check, the teams didn't want to lose, and boys can be really competitive (as can girls, but the girls didn't mess around so much), and they sorted each other out at the mere threat of losing points.

The other thing I did was play lots of games, I had coloured fruit and animals, and coloured balls etc - then played running games, I had a basket ball and dustbin and used flash cards, when they got the card right they could throw the ball for a point.

I used the animals, laid themout and then had racing games to get the right animal (using the English name for the animal etc).

It was all about keeping it interesting and keeping the class moving - the last thing they wanted to do was be sat in their chairs.

There are lots of games online

Hope this helps.
