To have a route.

Which I suppose literally means, Do not take me as an idiot. Neat!

Tomar: En general se usa para decir que vamos a ingerir algo, un desayuno, una cena, una bebida, una medicina...

Beber: Es mÃ¡s concreto al acto de tomar en sÃ mismo, es la acciÃ³n.

Tomar: Acto

Beber: AcciÃ³n de tomar ingiriendo.

Normalmente, en sentido informal puede usarse ambos.

tomar not only means to drink .It has wide uses.

tomar
   (coger, agarrar) to take: tomÃ³ mi mano, he took my hand
     toma las llaves, here are the keys
   (autobÃºs, taxi, etc) to take, catch: tomÃ© el ascensor, I took the lift o elevator
     tengo que tomar el prÃ³ximo tren, I have to catch the next train
(alimentos) to have
     (bebidas) to drink
     (medicinas) to take
(adoptar) to take, adopt: tomaron medidas desesperadas, they took desperate measures
(tener cierta reacciÃ³n) no lo tomes a broma, don't take it as a joke
(juzgar) no me tomes por idiota, don't think I'm stupid
     (confundirse) le tomaron por Robert Redford, they mistook him for Robert Redford
(el aire, el fresco, etc) to get
     tomar el sol, to sunbathe
   (en carretera) decidiÃ³ tomar la autopista, he decided to take the motorway
