I have been learning Spanish for a few years in school and often I find that the hardest activities for me are those where you listen to something and answer questions. I also have trouble coming up with quick oral responses to questions. Does anyone have any advice for improving my speaking/listening skills?

Hi-

Your Spanish listening skills will get a lot better if you listen to the Spanish radio and watch T.V. in Spanish. Also, in class when you are having a conversation with someone, try to antisipate their question. For example, if you say that you watched a movie over the weekend, someone is probably going to ask you what it was about. If you tell the class that you went to the snow over the weekend, someone is probably going to want to know what the weather was like. It's always best to be ready to give many details, just like in English. :) It might also help if you start reading books in Spanish and wright down phrases that you would like to use.

I hope this helps.

Saludos

Spanish language or another one.I have a tips..first of all...take a good books with a tape(you can listening).second: speak with a friends native speaker, but explain for them..you aren't fluent..so you need helping..(and my big tip is: take your add in newspaper..in your city(change english teaching to spanish(exchange with someone)I mean you don't need to pay for nothing...and the same the person don't need to paying english class for you.

I have also problems with understanding spanish and now when I am looking to a programm on the RTVE ( Spanish Television) I look always with teletext (page number 888) so you can always see and read the word(s) you didn't understand.

PS: not every programm has teletext.
