I am sure Zerge will agree with you, help you round up his own brothers, and put them in cages. All you have to do is be his friend. Would you?

I hate illegal immigration.
But I challenge the feasibility of what you say. Even if the US were able to round up and deport 100,000 illegals per month, or 1.2 million a year, it would take 10 years to put an estimated 12 million back in Latin America.

The other side of the coin is that while we deport 100,000 a month, more are streaming in. So my estimated ten year plan is overly optimistic.

Our men in Congress know this too. That is why our representatives are dragging their heels. They don't know WTF to do.

Well for a start, they could amend the NAFTA treaty and introduce a migration clause into it giving the NAFTA countries free labor mobility, as times passes on, we could go the way of the European Union and extend that privilege to all the Americas.

Operation Wetback in 1953 deported 1.3 million illegal aliens in 7 months. We can beat those numbers and pace.

The House certainly knew what to do. Their bill, H.R. 4437, had every element of a comprehensive and effective solution. In particular, it expanded mandatory workplace verification of identity and right to work in the USA, and removed the legal loopholes which make it nearly impossible to prosecute the unscrupulous employers of illegal aliens.

A Google on 'Operation Wetback' produced some wildly varying numbers of deportees.

In the good old days under the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, with a
deportation system relying on Special Inquiry Officers for hearings, the federal
government was able actually to deport, voluntarily return or scare off possibly over 1
million illegal aliens from Mexico over about a year during Operation Wetback.
http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/OO/pqo1.html The INS claimed as many as 1,300,000, though the number officially apprehended did
not come anywhere near this total.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation Wetback
Operation Wetback deported approximately 80,000 Mexican nationals in the space of
almost a year. (Perhaps as many as 700,000 left voluntarily)

Plus the difficulty today of identifying an illegal. I live in a city where perhaps one in three either has a Hispanic surname, speaks with an accent, or has physical features typical of Latin Americans. Having any or all of the three characteristics proves nothing about the citizenship status of the person. And who in America carries any form of ID proving citizenship?

It's a very sticky problem. I'll admit I don't have a nice, easy solution.

See, this is one of the basic differences between anglo and latino cultures. In anglo culture, if your brother breaks the law, you think your brother should pay the consequences, in latino culture, you back your brother up, even if he is scum.
