Is it correct that 'vosotros' is no longer used in many Spanish speaking countries? At the University where I study Spanish (in the U.S.) we are no longer taught "vosotros." My professors say that in Mexico it is never used. True??

you are correct about "t’u" and usted.  Usted is the formal you.  We don't have a formal form of you in english.  But you can use usted and t’u for the same person.  But the conjugations change depending on which word you use.

I guess that "vosotros" and ustedes would work for each other.  Because vosotros is basically "all of you" and ustedes is the plural of "you".  But remember that conjugations change depending on which form you use!

So haber would be:

Yo  - he (CORRECT)

T'u - has (CORRECT)

él (masc.), ella (fem.), usted - ha

nosotros - hemos (CORRECT)

vosotros (apparently old fashioned ;0) ) - habéis  (CORRECT)

ellos, ellas, ustedes - han

you are on the right track!!  awesome job!

bein!

In Spain "Ustedes" is not used, we use "vosotros/vosotras" instead. However, if you are meeting a person "superior" to you, you should refer to him/her as "usted" :).

This is pretty true. It is a shame though, that at your university they are not teaching it to you. If you ever decided to go to Spain to study you would wish that they had taught it to you. If you´re pretty fluent you´ll likely understand either way but it will take a moment to get used to it.

Well, let me see if I can make this clear and not confuse you.
Tú, Usted, Vosotros, Vosotras, and Ustedes all mean You/You all.
They are all second person subject pronouns.
Tú and Usted are singular.
Vosotros, Vosotras, and Ustedes are plural.
Tú, Vosotros, and Vosotras are informal.
Usted and Ustedes are formal.

In Argentina is so common to use vosotros but they say "vos" and the verb is just like for this pronoun.
