En un negocio o trato las dos partes cumplen simultáneamente, el intercambio se produce al mismo tiempo.

Por ejemplo: Yo te doy el libro y tú me das los 20 dólares que cuesta. (No "yo te doy el libro y tú me darás el dinero cuando te acuerdes").

El significado, partiendo de la literalidad de las palabras sería: yo te doy – tú me das y ambos quedamos libres del acuerdo.

“Toma y daca” se refiere a algo que se hace entre dos partes de manera alterna y repetitiva:

El combate fue un toma y daca continuo: Juan atacaba y José se defendía y, luego, José atacaba y Juan se defendía y así sucesivamente.

Puede referirse a una negociación o intercambio en el que las dos partes ceden para llegar a un acuerdo que les interese:

Los nombramientos fueron el resultado de un toma y daca vergonzoso.

“Toma y daca” implica un intercambio o una alternancia recíproca y/o negociada.
“Dando y dando…” implica un intercambio o trato justo que se produce al mismo tiempo y pone fin al compromiso.

“El pajarito volando” es una imagen metafórica: el vuelo (libre) del pájaro evoca la libertad –en cuanto al intercambio- en la que quedan las dos partes.
