Interesting philosophy Mike,
I can see how you can learn a lot from the net. I cant see though how this will help with gaining proper pronounciation. Also would you be missing out on the more subtle stuff like slang (if they have it in Spain) or general day to day lingo that only a Spanish tutor or living in Spain will offer.
I am learning some words from the net and also some grammer but I believe you have to talk to people natively to get the correct conversations going.
Just my two pennith, good luck and ill watch the progress with interest
