I have two different Spanish programs and they tell me two different ways to say this sentance structure.

Either:

el me da la teja a mi

da el teja a mi

Just wondering which is right?

Only your first sentence is grammatically correct.

"Él me da el azulejo" "a mí" is not required because you've alreayd said that gives it to you.

Next time, don't forget the accents and the capital letters. Wink

Thanks for the reply.

Basically, you're saying neither are really right - which is fun as both are presented as ways to say that sentance in Spanish courses - the first Linkword, the second one online.

What you said makes sense though.

As to the commas - as yet I haven't figured out how to get my keyboard to do any of them. Is there an easy way or do I have to use the special characters todoings?

In your profile, change your editor to the advanced one and you will get all those characters you need to write in Spanish.

The first one is right "el me da la teja a mi", the words "a mi" are not necessary, but is ok.

Translator softwares are not the best way. ;)

Do you even need the "el" in the beginning? Because when you say: You Need me you don't say el me necesita...you just say "me necesita".

In my opinion, it would be better if you inlclude pronoun just so it doesn't cause some confusion (plus it's only one more syllable or 2 if you include usted) :)

Thanks. But what about "you":

tu me necesita? It wouldn't be 'te' because then thats saying "You need yourself".

The translator software actually thinks it's the second one. Linkword thinks it's the first, and makes a big point of the fact that you say 'me' twice but in two different ways. I guess what is often the most grammatically correct isn't always what is said - you only have to look at English for that.
