hi. the best way to learn an spanish language is this. you can link in yahoobabelfish and in there you can find any different language.from english then you can translate it to any language include in the spanish.if you want to know the word in spanish you have to text the english word first then you can see the translation okay.hope i can help you in this way.

Babelfish translator won't help you with verb conjugation or any other aspect of grammar, it is also horribly innacurate as it does not know the context of what syntax you put in the box. Many many words do not translate directly to Spanish from English and vice versa, so it can be more of a problem if you try to learn from what results you get back. Half the time they are wrong!

The best way to learn is to study from materials geared towards learning the language and practise, practise, practise!

The tranlator that I use is here:

http://translation2.paralink.com/

I should point out out that I use a translator as kind of a spell checker of sorts. It helps me with that a lot.  There are also many verb conjunctors that you can use online or download to your computer. Basically to lean Spanish you must practice, practice, practice.

¡Buenas Suerte!

Es mejor hablar español un poco que hablar nada. Al fin y al cabo, yo sé más hoy que ayer.

I bought this software last year (see link below), it's absolutely invaluable as a translator. On the interactive translate mode you can really make sure you are getting the correct translation. There is also a heap of tools for learning the language such as conjugators, grammar, dictionary etc.

Quite expensive, but it's paid for itself already!

best of spanish is that words are pronounced as written. So if you know the pronunciation of vowels and consonants rigth, is not hard to spell any word. except maybe for the accents, but they´re marked.

for example

papá=father (familiar) (the stress is in the second pa)
papa=potato (the stress is in the first pa)
papa=El papa=the pope (stress is in the first pa)

Rules for written accents:

sótano = basement                                                   palabra esdrujula (3+ syllables) always written accent

word with 3 sylabes = so - ta - no
spoken stress falls before the penultimate syllable, so accent is written  (in general any word with 3 or more syllables stressed before the penultimate syllable has written accent)

árbol = tree                                                            palabra grave

word with 2 syllables = ar - bol
spoken stress falls in the penultimate syllable, and word DOESN'T end with a vowel, n, or s. has written accent

camión = truck                                                         palabra aguda

word with 3 syllables = ca - mi - on
stress falls in the last syllable, and word DOES end with vowel, n, or s. has written accent

The best way is speaking , Alex. I entirely understand you , couse I've got the same problem with english, as Im trying to learn. Always losing time thinking which word goes before what.. You say, what you wanted as you can, and find someone who traslates properly the right way,but in the moment, dont stop the conversation saying " no, you say this and you should be saying that" but just saying it. The more you're wrong, the most you will learn. I think we'll never be foreigner speakers if we study all those endless lists word by word, becouse they dont mean anything by themselves. You can learn words in their context, or by assotiation whith anothers, or knowing where they came from ...Try to speak as much as you can, no matter how you do, and you will see how you go improving. After all is the way everyone learned our mother lenguage , isnt it ?

Right said Romana! I would also recommend you to this cool site I recently discovered on this subject. It's a very unconventional resource if you are keen on learning it faster. It's called Easiest Spanish and for the right reasons. I have greatly improved my vocabulary using their unique free tips and tricks on learning new words through visualization!

However, I would also advise you not to give up on talking with natives and just focus on vocabulary tips. That won't serve you any good. No tricks or techniques can help you much unless you get to use those newly learnt words in your conversation and writings! Try writing stuff using Spanish words you learned through the site mentioned above and you'll see a drastic improvement in your Spanish steadily!

hi (hola) Max:)

Well, usually I write down the words I want to learn on separated *** of papers, on the one side I write the word in spanish, and on the other  it's meaning. Then, I take them all and start saying aloud every word untill I do it all correct:)
You should try this:) wish You luck:)
